Budget tracker

Your budget,
planned to the last invoice.

A wedding is a hundred small decisions that each cost something. Keep the total, what you have spent and what is left in one place, so you find out in February rather than in June.

Nobody knows what a wedding costs — until it has already cost it.

Three months in

Two ways to know where you are.

On a spreadsheet
  • ○A file on one laptop, last edited in March.
  • ○Adding it up again every time somebody asks.
  • ○Finding out in June that the venue took half of it.
  • ○Two of you keeping two different numbers.
Here
  • ✦One running total, on whatever you have in your hand.
  • ✦Spent, left, and where it went by category.
  • ✦Seeing the venue take half of it in February.
  • ✦One number, and you both see the same one.
In three steps

Set up in a minute.

  1. 01

    Set the total

One figure for the whole wedding — or set it per guest, and let the total follow your headcount.

  2. 02

    Add what you spend

An amount, what it was for, and a category. That is the entire form, which is why it actually gets filled in.

  3. 03

    Watch what is left

Spent against your budget, what remains, and a total per category — updated the moment either of you adds something.

The honest answers

Before you ask.

Do I have to log every coffee?

No. Put in the things that move the number — the venue, the band, the dress — and the total stays honest without becoming a second job.

Can we both see it?

It lives in your account rather than in a file, so there is one set of numbers and no version to send back and forth.

What if we do not know the total yet?

Set a figure per guest instead. The total follows your headcount, and you can change either of them whenever the plan changes.

Honestly so much easier than I expected. We sent the link round and the replies just came in on their own — I didn't have to chase anyone.

It looked really lovely, and it actually felt like us. A few guests messaged just to say how nice it was.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about the budget tracker.

You set your total budget, add expenses as they come in, and the tracker shows you how much you've spent and what's left. You can also see the cost per guest based on your current RSVP count.

You create your own categories — venue, catering, flowers, attire, whatever suits your wedding. There's no fixed list, so you can organise it however makes sense to you.

When you set up your bridecard, you can enter a total budget or a target spend per guest. You can update it any time from your account.
